Grand ayatoolah Ali Sistani says that although he has some criticisms about some issues in the Islamic Republic but he "never uttered even a single word against the Islamic Republic".
Howzah News Center said this topic on Tuesday August 2 quoting from Ayatollah Morteza Ashrafi Shahrudi who has been introduces as one of Shahrud City Ulama.
Ashrafi Shahrudi has said that he had visited Ali Sistani in past April for 45 minutes and this Grand Ayatollah had said to him the he knows the issues of the Islamic Republic "absolutely well".
In this meeting, Sistani has said that "Iran is the sole country which owns an Islamic government, so we all have to attempt to reinforce the Islamic Regime".
This Shia Marja has added that "I have some criticisms about some issues in Iran but I fear that saying such criticisms lead to weakening the Islamic Republic regime".
Ali Sistani has said that "in this regard, I'm responsible from the God's side, so I never utter even a single word against the Islamic Republic regime".
Ali Sistani is one of the highest-ranking Shia Marja in Najaf, Iraq who has never spoken about the post-election events, despite several requests to show his opinion.
Like many other Shia Marjas, Ali Sistani's silence implicitly shows that he defends the actions of the Islamic Republic's authorities in suppressing the protesters.
